Permanent Lighting Extension Cables

Extensions are the plain cable of a permanent lighting system — the runs between the controller and the first light, across a garage door, around a corner, or out to a power-injection point. One cable, seven lengths, so you buy the distance the job actually needs instead of coiling surplus into the soffit.

Every install sheet has a few of these on it. Crews typically stock the short lengths for jumps between track sections and the long lengths for controller-to-roofline drops.

How installers choose

  • Measure the run, then round up one size — A little slack at a connector is easy to dress; a cable one foot short is a second trip.
  • Corners and gaps — Short extensions (1–5 ft) bridge track breaks at corners, dormers and downspouts.
  • Drops and feeds — Long extensions (10–25 ft) typically run controller-to-track and carry power-injection feeds via a T connector.
