Privacy Policy
What we collect when you shop or open an account, what we do with it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
My LED Kit (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a wholesale permanent lighting supplier based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information we collect, and our privacy officer can be reached at Sales@myledkit.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. By using myledkit.com (the “Site”) or placing an order you agree to it; it forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Order details — your name, email address, phone number, company name, shipping and billing addresses, the products you order, and any note you add to an order (for example a custom track colour).
- Account details — your name, email address, company, password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text), saved addresses and your order history.
- Trade account details — what you install, your business information and, for credit accounts, the information needed to set up terms.
- Messages — anything you send us by email or through the Site, including warranty claims and the photographs or video that go with them.
Information we receive from payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe’s own checkout page. Your card number is entered there, not on our Site, and we never see or store it. Stripe sends us what we need to fulfil the order: confirmation of payment, the amount, the card brand and last four digits, and the shipping and billing addresses you entered. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs what Stripe does with your information.
Information collected automatically
- Browser storage — the Site keeps a small amount of information in your browser: your theme choice, the contents of your cart, and — when you sign in — a session token that keeps you signed in. None of this is sent to advertisers.
- Server logs — our hosting providers record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of each request, used for security and to keep the Site running.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics trackers on the Site.
3. How we use it
- To process, ship and deliver your orders, and to send you the emails that go with them — order confirmations, receipts, shipping notices, and account emails such as password resets.
- To run your account, apply the pricing your account is entitled to, and show you your order history.
- To answer your questions, provide spec support, and handle warranty claims and returns.
- To prevent fraud, protect the Site and our customers, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
- To keep the records that tax, accounting and other laws require us to keep.
- With your consent, to send you news and offers by email. Every such email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time. We do not send marketing you did not ask for.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — the database and sign-in service that hold your account and orders.
- Resend — delivery of the emails we send you.
- Netlify — hosting of the Site.
- Shipping carriers — your name, address and phone number, so a shipment can be delivered.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to a court order or a lawful request from a public authority, to protect our rights, property or safety or those of others, or as part of a sale, merger or reorganization of our business (in which case the buyer takes on the obligations in this policy).
5. Where it is stored
We are based in Canada, and our service providers store and process information in Canada and the United States. Information held in another country is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and authorities. By using the Site you consent to this transfer.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order and invoice records for as long as tax and accounting laws require — generally at least seven years. We keep your account information while your account is open and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return. We keep messages and warranty files for as long as they are needed to resolve the matter and to defend any claim. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
7. How we protect it
The Site is served only over encrypted connections, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, card details never touch our systems, and access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will tell you if a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, as the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
You can review and update your details in your account at any time. By emailing our privacy officer you can also ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your account and personal information, except what we must keep by law or need to complete an order, resolve a dispute or enforce our Terms;
- stop sending you marketing email (or use the unsubscribe link in any such email); or
- withdraw a consent you have given, which may mean we can no longer provide some services.
We will need to verify that you are who you say you are before acting on a request, and we respond within the time the law allows. These rights come from Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have equivalent rights to know, correct and delete, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them; we do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
9. Children
The Site sells to businesses and adults. It is not directed at anyone under eighteen, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Other websites
The Site links to other websites — Stripe’s checkout among them. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time by posting a new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we have already collected, we will tell you by email or by a notice on the Site.
